PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer excellent in heat resistance, solubility, optical properties and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The polymer is a polyarylate having two or more kinds of recurring unit of general formula(1)( wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a halogen atom; R<SP>2</SP>is a halogen atom, alkyl or aryl; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each H, an alkyl or halogen atom; R<SP>5</SP>and R<SP>6</SP>are each a substituent; l and m are each 0-4; and L is composed of one or more linkage groups each having either one structure mentioned below, wherein L has two or more kinds of recurring units consisting of two or more linkage groups of general formula(2) ).
