The invention relates to a sensor assembly (1) for detecting the impact of an object on a vehicle. Said assembly comprises a sensor element (3,11), which is positioned in a first recess (4) of an impact element (2) of a bodywork component and which emits a signal to an evaluation unit in response to a deformation or a pressure. The first recess (4) has a cross-section, which is adapted to the cross-section of the sensor element (3, 11). The sensor element (3, 11) is inserted into the first recess (4) and the assembly is provided with a cover element (9) that is positioned over the recess (4), said cover element lying adjacent to the sensor element (3, 11) in the first recess, preventing a perpendicular displacement of the sensor element (3, 11) in relation to the base of the recess (4).
