PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage machine to automatically perform a massaging operation without requiring re-adjustment of the angle of a backrest part, or the angle or position of a footrest part, regardless of the body size of a person to be treated. SOLUTION: The massage machine comprises the backrest part 10 which is tiltable to a seat part 8 and the footrest part 6 which is tiltable or retractable to the seat part 8. The massage machine is a chair-type massage machine to automatically perform a massaging operation. The massage machine also has detection devices 4 for detecting the information on the body size of the person to be treated with a detector 5 (including a treatment element 9 as the detector) disposed on the backrest part 10 or the footrest part 6, and a control device 11 for automatically tilting the backrest part 10 or the footrest part 6, or automatically retracting the footrest part 6 according to the result of detection by the detection device 4.
