PURPOSE: To reduce the risk of breaking a stitch-forming yarn by placing a specific selecting device (jack) which performs angular displacement against a needle having no heel interacting with stitch-forming cams in a plane coplanar with the needle. CONSTITUTION: A hollow 117 of a jack 116 is engaged with a protrusion 114 of a needle 13 having no heel interacting with stitch-forming cams 120, 121, 122. The heel 118 of a vibrating jack 116 retracts into a sliding passage of the needle depending on the position of a pushing strip 124, and when it projects to active position by vibration, the cams 120, 122 become active. |
