The invention relates to a method enabling a group of emitter-receiver systems to access a transmission channel of a wireless network. According to said method, each emitter-receiver system of the group of emitter-receiver systems wishing to transmit a frame on the transmission channel determines a random number between 0 and a contention window, CW, if the transmission channel is occupied, and waits a certain period of time at least proportional to the random number before transmitting the frame, when the transmission channel is freed. The inventive method is characterised in that, for at least one emitter-receiver system of the group of emitter-receiver systems, an estimation of data representative of the average waiting period between two transmissions of frames on the transmission channel is determined, and the contention window is increased if the estimation is lower than a determined target value or decreased if the estimation is higher than the determined target value.
