<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material which has excellent high humidity conveyance properties, resistance to low temperature sticking, chemical resistance, especially high survival rate in plasticizer resistance, high sensitivity, heat resistant shelf stability, suitability for low torque printer, successful wear resistance and less texture fog. <P>SOLUTION: This thermal recording material has a thermal color developing layer which colors by heat and a protecting layer containing a binding resin, a crosslinking agent, a filler and a release agent, formed on a support in that order. In addition, the release agent is composed of a silicone compound of a spherical particle with a (CH<SB>3</SB>SiO<SB>3/2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>(n>15) structure.
