<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel device in which any erroneous operation hardly occurs. <P>SOLUTION: This touch panel device is configured by alternately arranging light emitting elements a1,... and light receiving elements e1,... to configure columns K1, K2, L1 and L2, and oppositely arranging the light emitting elements a1,... and the light receiving elements e1,... to make a set in the oppositely arranged columns K1 and K2(L1 and L2), wherein positions where light emission from the light emitting elements a1,... to the light receiving elements e1,... is shielded are detected.
