METHOD FOR PRODUCING ANTIBACTERIAL AND DEODORIZING COLLOIDAL SOLUTION OF TITANIUM OXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a colloidal solution of titanium oxide having excellent antimicrobial and deodorizing effect and a strong photocatalytic action. SOLUTION: This method for producing the antimicrobial and deodorizing colloidal solution comprises (1) mixing an aqueous solution containing an antimicrobial and deodorizing metal component with an aqueous solution of a titanium salt to give a mixed aqueous solution and adding an alkali to the mixed aqueous solution to form a hydrous oxide, (2) washing the obtained hydrous oxide, (3) suspending the washed hydrous oxide in water, (4) mixing the suspension with a silica colloidal solution and/or a silicic acid solution, (5) further adding an alkali to the suspension to adjust the suspension to pH 7-13 and (6) then heat-treating the suspension having adjusted pH by an autoclave at 110-250°C to give a colloidal solution in which an antimicrobial and deodorizing titanium oxide fine particle is dispersed.
