PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of assisting the follow-object zooming-photographing of a moving body which is difficult even for an expert at photographing, for a camera for photographing a still image, by realizing a function of photographing an object coming or going away in a field of view while following the object in a focused state, and to provide an imaging method and a program. SOLUTION: An automatic focusing operation performed by a focus detecting operation to the object, and a focusing operation of focusing on the object by driving a focus lens based on the focus detection result, is repeatedly performed, further, in reply to the automatic focusing operation, a follow zooming operation of driving a zoom lens based on the focusing quantity by the automatic focusing operation is performed also in the midst of an operation of imaging the still image.
