<p>A composition is coated-on, which comprises a mechanically-fragmented, chemically cross-linked polysaccharide with dry product particle size (weighted mean) in the range 1-1000 mu m. The composition includes or is comprised exclusively of the specified starch. An additional polysaccharide is contained in the composition. A filler, burning rate retardant and/or a burning rate accelerator may also be included. The composition is coated by a printing technique, especially gravure printing or by spraying. For application in discrete zones, the composition is contained in water, mixed water and organic solvent, organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvents.
