Protected 8,10-tetradecadien-1-al derivatives (I) are new. Protected 8,10-tetradecadien-1-al derivatives of formula (I) are new: CH 3(CH 2) 2CH=CH-CH=CH(CH 2) 6CHXY (I) X, Y = a protecting group, namely acetal, ketal, hemiacetal, hemiketal, mono/dithioacetal, thioketal, imine, hydrazone, semicarbazone, carbazone, aldehyde hydrate, aldazine, oxime, oxime ether, azomethine, aminal, hemiaminal, cyanohydrin, aldimine, hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine, aldol, 2,4,6-trisubstituted 1,3,5-trioxane or hexasubstituted hexamethylenetriamine. Independent claims are also included for: (1) protected 8-bromo-1-octanal derivatives of formula (II); (2) protected 8-oxo-1-octanal derivatives of formula (III); (3) protected 9-alkoxycarbonyl-8-nonen-1-al derivatives of formula (IV); (4) protected 10-hydroxy-8-decen-1-al derivatives of formula (V); (5) protected 10-oxo-8-decen-1-al derivatives of formula (VI); (6) a process for preparing (I); (7) dispenser containing a compound (I).
