<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium excellent in dye color developing properties, pigment color developing properties, and ink absorbing properties, and to improve operating properties. <P>SOLUTION: The inkjet recording medium has an ink receiving layer comprising a pigment and a binder and to which gloss is provided by bringing it into contact with a heated mirror finishing surface during wet condition. The pigment comprises a colloidal silica and a synthetic amorphous silica, and the binder comprises polyvinyl alcohol and casein. The gloss is provided to the ink receiving layer by bringing the surface of the ink receiving layer immediately after the surface is coated with a water solution comprising a compound having an action coagulating the polyvinyl alcohol and a compound having an action coagulating the casein, into contact with the heated mirror surface. The colloidal silica preferably has a primary particle diameter of 5-55 nm, and a ratio of a secondary particle diameter to the primary particle diameter of 1.5-3.0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
