<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation sheet which is used for a polarizing plate having an optical compensation function, optically compensates a liquid crystal cell and, in particular, even when being applied for a large-size liquid crystal display device, displays a high display quality image without causing irregularity, and also to provide a polarizing plate provided with the optical compensation sheet excellent in the characteristics, and a liquid crystal display device having the polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation sheet is formed by performing drying while keeping the vapor of solvent in coating liquid at a high concentration on the coated surface side during the drying by preventing the disturbance of air near the coated surface by means of a drier having a casing that surrounds a web just after applying an optical anisotropic layer to the continuously running web. Therein, the optical anisotropic layer comprises at least one kind of fluoro-aliphatic group-containing polymer which contains a repeated unit derived from monomer having specified structure containing a fluoro-aliphatic group and a liquid crystal compound.
