PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying device small in size and having high versatility. SOLUTION: This article carrying device 4 comprises three belt conveyors 21 to 23 disposed parallel with each other. Holders 17 are installed on the belt conveyors 22 and 23 at prescribed pitches in the carrying direction. Each of the holders 17 comprises a left side member 18 and a right side member 19, and the side part of a container 2 can be held by engagement recessed parts 18A and 19A formed in these members. The bottom part of the container 2 is supported by the center belt conveyor 21, both side parts of the container 2 are held by the engagement recessed parts 18A and 19A of the holder 17, and the container 2 is intermittently carried to the downstream side in that state. When the size of the container 2 is changed, an interval between the engagement recessed parts 18A and 19A of the holder 17 can be adjusted by changing an interval between the belt conveyors 22 and 23 by adjusting means 27 and 27'.
