<p>Fractionation of fatty acids and/or esters of these by cooling a soln. of such material in an organic solvent to a selected temp. above which solid components crystallise out and below wich liquid components remain in soln. in the solvent, the freezing point of which is below the minimum tempat which solid components separate out, and after separating the solid components, recovering the liquid components from the residual soln. by removal of the solvent, the novel feature being that the soln. is cooled to the desired temp. by evaporating a part of the solvent under reduced pressure without the supply of external heat, the quantity of solvent then remaining being sufficient to maintain the liquid components in soln. and for the solid components to crystalline.</p> |
