PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method and a magnetic recording and reproducing device not generating discrimination errors due to sub-pulses when reproducing the signals recorded by magnetic transfer on a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: If there is a space 44 of 3 bits or larger between the continuous magnetic bits 42 when the magnetic head reads the signals of magnetic information bits 42 recorded by magnetic transfer along the tracks on a magnetic recording medium 2, the signals read from the sub-pulse area F within the space 44 are invalidated when reading the magnetic bits 42 along the tracks.
