A wooden dowel 68 fixed to the pedal carries a spring contact 70 which on actuation of the pedal is deflected into contact with an L-shaped wire 74. Sponge rubber is provided on the stop bar 60 and the upper surface of the end 46 of strip 52 to silence actuation and release of the switch. Four rows of nine switches may be provided.
