Method for checking the electrical insulation of an electric motor rotor using coils (5, 6) connected in series at each end (2, 3) of the rotor winding (4). The rotor laminated core (7) and a rotor electric circuit (8) are electrically connected to the rotor earth (11) via a connection point (9) between the two coils. A current flowing in the rotor electric circuit generates a magnetic field with the magnetic field of each end coil detected by a field sensor (13, 14) with any changes being evaluated in an analysis unit (15) for detecting a change of the insulation.
