PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable smoothly switching a focus detecting means at a high speed, even if when the number of imaging frames and the number of imaging fields are varied according to the purpose of photographing. SOLUTION: A focus detecting method by a direct range-finding AF unit 101 and an imaging signal AF detection part 102 is changed over by an AF system selecting part 105 in accordance with the number of frames and the number of fields of an imaging signal.
