PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost and highly usable steam iron capable of jetting a large amount of steam despite of the attitude of an iron body. SOLUTION: This steam iron is provided with a base (not shown in the figure) heated by a heater (not shown in the figure), a vaporizing chamber (not shown in the figure) formed on the base, a water tank 4 storing water to be fed to the vaporizing chamber and a pump device (not shown in the figure) disposed in the water tank 4 and instantaneously generating the large amount of steam; the front end and the rear end of the bottom part inside the water tank 4 are disposed with a front end water intake 12a and a rear end water intake 12b communicating with the pump device; and when the front end of the iron body (not shown in the figure) is positioned upward, the water is fed from the rear end water intake 12b to the pump device 7, and when the rear end of the iron body is positioned upward, the water is fed from the front end water intake 12a to the pump device 7, respectively, so that this iron can generate the large amount of steam despite of the attitude of the iron body.
