<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor which enables printed matter with good image quality to be obtained even in the use of a toner saving function, and a control method for the image processor. <P>SOLUTION: The image processor is equipped with: an interpreter means for interpreting a figure drawing instruction which constitutes image data; a rendering means for generating a printing and drawing image, which is composed of three kinds of drawing objects, that is, characters, images and graphics, interpreted by the interpreter means, on a memory; and a gamma-curve generating means for generating a gamma curve which specifies a relationship between a density value of an input image and that of an output image. The rendering means controls the density value of the output image in accordance with the gamma curve which is generated by the gamma-curve generating means. The image processor is also equipped with a color-density-suppression-value generating means for generating a color-density suppression value for suppressing the density of the output image, by making the color-density suppression value correspond to the density value of the input image, and a correction means for correcting the gamma curve generated by the gamma-curve generating means, in accordance with the value generated by the color-density-suppression-value generating means, when instructions on the suppression of the color density are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
