PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier for a television receiver which can amplify TV radio waves coming from different directions by one type of an amplifier without causing ghost faultis and is adaptable to a plurality of areas different in radio wave environment. SOLUTION: A UHF-TV signal U1 is inputted to a first input terminal 31a, and a UHF-TV signal U2 is inputted to a second input terminal 31b. The UHF-TV signal U1 is extracted via a short-circuiting circuit or a ghost removing filter 33 by switching a changeover switch 32 and inputted through an amplifier circuit 34 to a mixer 35. The mixer 35 comprises an attenuator 37, and the UHF-TV signal U1 amplified by the amplifier circuit 34 and the UHF-TV signal U2 inputted from the second input terminal 31b through the attenuator 37 are mixed and outputted through an amplifier circuit 38. The attenuator 37 is for level adjustment of the UHF-TV signal U2 but when the second input terminal 31b is not used, the attenuator is functioned as a terminator by switching its attenuation amount to a predetermined value.
