<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxide ion conductor enhanced in oxygen ion conductivity and excellent in reducing durability, and an oxygen separation membrane element having high efficiency and excellent durability. <P>SOLUTION: If a byproduct component such as MgO or the like is present in a crystal boundary of La<SB>0.6</SB>Sr<SB>0.4</SB>Ti<SB>0.1</SB>Fe<SB>0.9</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, the reduction expansion of La<SB>0.6</SB>Sr<SB>0.4</SB>Ti<SB>0.3</SB>Fe<SB>0.7</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is suppressed while keeping oxygen ion conductivity and, its turn, the reduction expansion of an oxygen separation membrane is suppressed. Accordingly, an oxygen separation membrane enhanced in oxygen ion conductivity and reduction durability is obtained. This effect is considered to be obtained because the byproduct component has a reduction expansion rate as compared with that of a perovskite compound, has high sintering properties and high strength and the expansion of the byproduct components present in a grain boundary are mutually bonded and La<SB>0.6</SB>Sr<SB>0.4</SB>Ti<SB>0.3</SB>Fe<SB>0.7</SB>O<SB>3</SB>in a reducing atmosphere is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
