PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicone rubber sponge composition which can form silicone sponge having a uniform cell form in good reproducibility with a sodium bicarbonate-based foaming agent having low environmental toxicity, when the silicone rubber composition is thermally foamed/cured at the atmosphere, and to provide a silicone rubber sponge obtained by thermally foaming and curing the composition. SOLUTION: This silicone rubber sponge composition comprises (A) 100 pts. mass of a silicone compound comprising an organopolysiloxane represented by an average composition formula (I) : R<SP>1</SP><SB>n</SB>SiO<SB>(4-n)/2</SB>(I) [R<SP>1</SP>groups are each identically or differently non-substituted or substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; (n) is a positive number of 1.95 to 2.05] and reinforcing silica, and having a water content of≤0.5 mass% before cured, (B) 0.5 to 50 pts. mass of sodium bicarbonate, and (C) an effective amount of a curing agent.
