PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection apparatus capable of accurately detecting position in the directions of the optical axes of light emitting element arrays. SOLUTION: LED arrays 11-13 are constituted by linearly aligning a plurality of LEDs. Light receiving surfaces of the CCD cameras 311-332 receive beams from the LEDs. An information processing unit 60 makes the LEDs emit light in such a way that at least two beams or more from LEDs among the plurality of LEDs may be received by the light receiving surfaces of the CCD cameras 311-332 through the use of a driver 70. The information processing unit 60 detects the position of the LED arrays in the directions of the optical axes with reference to the light receiving surfaces on the basis of the at least two beams or more received by the light receiving surfaces of the CCD cameras 311-332 through the use of an image processing means 65.
