PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver for facilitating adjustment of an antenna direction or the like by a user. SOLUTION: The receiver includes: a reception section for receiving a modulated digital signal from an antenna; a signal processing section for demodulating and decoding the digital signal and outputting the resulting digital signal; a reception state detection section for detecting information of a reception state associated with a received signal level and/or signal quality; a storage section for storing information of the best reception state; a reception state comparison section that compares the information of the best reception state stored in the storage section with information of a present reception state and updates the information of the best reception state stored in the storage section into the information of the present reception state when the present reception state is better than the best reception state stored in the storage section; and a display information generating section for generating display information denoting that the present reception state is better when the present reception state is not worse than the best reception state stored in the storage section by a prescribed value or over.
