The device (1) is for the releasable fixture and longitudinal positioning of a seat in a vehicle and involves a rail (6), a holding contour (9), a bar contour (11) and a roll-off contour (10). The device also has a holding unit (3) with a holding component (13) which works in conjunction with the holding contour (9) for fixing the seat to the vehicle. A bar unit (4) has a bar component (14) which works in conjunction with the bar contour (11) for fixture of the longitudinal position of the vehicle seat. Also incorporated is a roller unit (5) with a roller component (18) which works in conjunction with the roll-off contour for longitudinal adjustment of the vehicle seat. The roller unit has a running roller and the holding component and bar component release the seat so that the running roller (21) on the floor side forms the outermost contour of the vehicle seat.
