PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate high-resolution image data free from a sense of incongruity by improving the viewing angle when converting resolution of low-resolution image data to display it. SOLUTION: Gradation values of vertically adjacent pixels in resolution converted image data are respectively set so as to be different from each other. For example, when a gradation value of a pixel being an object of resolution conversion is "16" and this pixel is doubled in horizontal and vertical directions to make four pixels, gradation values of four pixels are not set to "16" but are set to different values, such as "24" and "8". Thus resolution converted image data has bright pixels and dark pixels arranged adjacently in the vertical direction, and the viewing angle in the vertical direction is extended.
