PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleep alarm apparatus to prevent an infant from a suffocation accident by tossing about in bed, lying prone, etc. during sleeping. SOLUTION: An inverted-U-shape cover 1 is attached to a stand 5 via a direction changeable arm part 5a. A plurality of light emitting elements 2 of LED and a plurality of light detecting elements 3 are attached on the inner circumferential surface of the inverted-U-shape cover 1 set so as to cover the head part of an infant 8. A reflection tape 4 is attached on the head part of the infant 8. In a condition wherein the forehead of the infant 8 is directed upward or sideward, light emitted by the light emitting elements 2 attached on the inner circumferential surface of the inverted-U-shape cover 1 is reflected by the reflection tape 4 and is detected by the light detecting elements 3. In a condition wherein the light detecting elements 3 detects the reflection light of the light emitting elements 2 reflected by the reflection tape 4, alarm sound from a speaker 6 in the stand 5 is stopped.
