<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drop molten slag from a slag tap approximately vertically downward, and to eliminate substances of low boiling point such as chloride in an exhaust gas by dissolving the same in water. <P>SOLUTION: In this ash melting device comprising a melting furnace 1 for burning and melting ash, the slag tap 2 discharging molten slag created in the melting furnace, a slag discharging chute 3 connected with the slag tap, and a water tank 4 mounted at a lower part of the slag discharging chute, a clearance 18 is formed between a partial lower end of the slag discharging chute and a water level of the water tank, an exhaust combustion gas extraction pipe 8 for extracting an exhaust combustion gas of the melting furnace through the slag tap and the slag discharging chute, is connected with the water tank 4, and water is spayed to the exhaust combustion gas passing between the clearance 18 and the exhaust combustion gas extracting pipe 8.
