<p>1295308 Glove boxes COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 15 April 1970 [29 April 1969] 17984/70 Heading B4Q [Also in Division E2] A flexible glove or sleeve 3 is fitted into a collar 8 at the inner end of the access port 2 of a radio-active enclosure by means of a parallelogram linkwork 34, 35 which may be expanded and axially moved by the relative or joint movement of a pair of tubes 18, 19 by means of handles 24, 29 or by hydraulic or electric control. The rim A of the sleeve is articulated, Fig. 6, so that when folded out it fits into the collar 8 and stays there. To replace a sleeve with a new one, it is first slid forward from position I to II, the device is withdrawn and a new sleeve with its rim retracted is placed on the carriers 33 of the linkages, this is then placed behind the old sleeve in the collar, and then moved forward to eject the old sleeve into the enclosure. These steps are performed by alternate rotation of handles 24, 29.</p> |
