PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for plastic lenses having excellent balance among heat and impact resistances and refractive index and affording a cured product having a high refractive index and a small specific gravity, and to provide a method for producing the plastic lenses. SOLUTION: The material for the plastic lenses has at least one or more kinds of groups represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<1> denote each independently either allyl group or methallyl group; and A<1> denotes each independently one or more kinds of organic residues consisting essentially of an organic residue derived from a bivalent carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid anhydride having an alicyclic structure and/or an aromatic ring structure) as terminal groups and a group represented by formula (2) (wherein, A<2> is the same as A<1> ; and X denote each independently one or more kinds of organic residues consisting essentially of an organic residue derived from a polyhydric alcohol having an ether bond in the molecule) as a repeating unit. |
