The hollow component part for a running gear component (1) consists of a rolled metal sheet (10) connected by the longitudinal edges (14,15). A tongue (13) protrudes from at least one of the longitudinal edges and fits round the edge strip (16) adjacent to the other longitudinal edge and is connected to it by hot-dip galvanizing. Sections with differing wall thicknesses are provided in the longitudinal direction of the hollow component.
