A multi-layer composite fleece comprises a layer of polyolefin endless filaments of below 4.5 dtex titer with at least as high a maximum tensile strength in the machine as in the transverse direction bonded pattern wise to a layer containing a nap of crimped polyolefin staple fibers thicker than the first layer fibers. An Independent claim is also included for production of the composite fleece by pattern wise bonding of the two layers of fibres.
