<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a motion vector search controller in real time motion picture encoding such as MPEG in which encoding quality characteristics of motion picture are enhanced by optimizing operation. <P>SOLUTION: In order to grasp the progress state of motion vector search processing, a timer 1-1 reset by a vertical synchronizing signal (Vsync) of each frame is provided, a value of the timer 1-1 is read out by means of a CPU 8-5, the fact whether the search processing is ahead of an assumed progress state or behind the assumed progress state is grasped from the value of the timer and the number of a macro block in processing at vector search sections #1 and #2, and a motion vector search range is controlled adaptively. The motion vector search processing progresses from the central part toward the end on a screen, and the search range is set at one of three stages of "wide", "intermediate" and "narrow", based on the progress state at a determination point arranged at an appropriate position on the screen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
