PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate having very superior durability, and to provide its simple and inexpensive manufacturing method.

SOLUTION: The polarizing plate includes a polarizer, and a protective film bonded through an adhesive layer on the polarizer. The protective film is a film subjected to saponification treatment and acid and alkali treatment. The method for manufacturing the polarizing plate includes a process of saponifying the protective film, a process for acid or alkali-treating the saponified protective film, and a process of bonding the acid or alkali-treated protective film and the polarizer.
