<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance vacuum heat insulating material by providing a moisture adsorbent having high moisture removing performance without worsening of work environment due to scattering of pulverized moisture adsorbent, deterioration of moisture adsorbent due to exposure to atmosphere, and causing problems such as increase in man-hour in a manufacturing process of vacuum heat insulating material. <P>SOLUTION: Calcium oxide containing chloride of alkali metal is used as the moisture adsorbent 7 of the vacuum heat insulating material 5. When chloride of alkali metal is added to limestone and burned, the obtained calcium oxide is porous body.
