PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a decoding system of a vertical magnetic recording system and to prevent an error rate from being deteriorated. SOLUTION: Data are read out of a disk 2 where the data are recorded by a vertical magnetic recording system by a head 3 and amplified by a head amplifier 11, and a read channel LSI 12 performs signal processing. A readout processing part 31 of an HDD controller 13 sends the read data to the outside. Further, a cutoff frequency control part 32 of the HDD controller 13 determines a cutoff frequency of a high-pass filter of the head amplifier 11 based upon the transfer speed of the data read out by the readout processing part 31 and controls a cutoff frequency change part 14 to vary the value of the cutoff frequency.
