The recessed valve has a plastic sleeve (3) screwed onto its upper part (1) and having an actuating handle (2). Inserted into the recess between a sleeve shoulder (3a) and the sleeve circumference is a bearing ring (5) which presses the collar (4) against the wall surface. The convex pressing surface (5a) of the bearing ring (5) has the form of a spherical segment of two bases. The inward-bent collar neck rim (4a) is matched to the shape of the pressing surface (5a); its inside diameter is larger than the outside diameter of the sleeve (3). The collar neck rim (4a) and the pressing surface (5a) form a spherical-head bearing which allows the collar (4) to swing around the valve axis (a) in all directions. Skewing forces on the spindle (6) due to sloping walls are thereby avoided. <IMAGE>
