PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit of air conditioner excellent in heat exchange performance in spite of a compact size. SOLUTION: This outdoor unit comprises a machine chamber 4 storing a compressor 3, and a heat exchange part 5 storing a heat exchanger (not shown) and a fan (not shown), in which a piping space 9 for arranging a connecting pipe 8 to be connected with an indoor unit (not shown) set within a building is provided under the compressor. Accordingly, since the machine chamber 4 can be made compact, and the heat exchange part 5 can be extended by the portion corresponding to this, the heat exchange performance can be improved.
