This invention relates to an engine including an elephant foot assembly and a method developed for the assembly thereof. The elephant foot assy (11) used in the engine (1) designed to fulfill the objectives of the present invention, comprises a shim (13) having a housing with an opening of a certain diameter (1) and a stem (12) attached to this shim (13) such that it can move at one end. There is a projection at the interior surface of the shim (13), forming a throat with a diameter (2) smaller than that of the opening of the shim (13). The maximum diameter of the spherical lower end of the stem (12) (3) is a bit larger than that of the throat (3>2). When the stem (12) is forced to the shim, it passes through the throat by contracting as a result of elastic deformation at the section of contact and after it passes through, it expands approximately to its original dimensions. As a result, the stem (12) does not come off from the shim (13).
