PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing plants having nitrogen absorptivity through roots, and to provide use of the plants produced by the method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the plants having increased nitrogen absorptivity comprises transducing a gene (GS2 gene) encoding plastid type glutamine synthetase (GS2 protein) to increase expression level of GS2 protein and thereby increasing nitrogen absorptivity of the roots.
