PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To homogeneously disperse functional fine particles extremely efficiently in a synthetic resin like a liquid or sol-state solvent. SOLUTION: A surface-modified fine particle is obtained by blending the functional fine particle 1 with a surface modifying agent 2 of the amount smaller than the absorption capacity of the functional fine particle 1 and modifying the outer peripheral surface of the functional fine particle 1 by a film of the surface modifying agent having ten to few score angstroms film thickness at a triturating/shearing step P1. A chipped functional fine particle-dispersed resin chip 6 is obtained by mixing the surface-modified fine particle with the matrix synthetic resin 5 and kneading the obtained mixture so that the surface-modified fine particles are dispersed in the synthetic resin at a resin chip production step 3.
