PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker for uniformly cooking rice, and making the top face of boiled rice flat to produce a visually delicious taste effect. SOLUTION: This rice cooker includes: a pot 2; a rice cooker body 1 provided with a heating means for heating a material to be cooked in the pot; a lid body 4; a pressure valve 14 for communicating or blocking between the inside of the pot and the outside air; a pressure valve opening mechanism 18 attached to the pressure valve for forcibly turning the pressure valve from a closed state to an open state; a control means 20 for controlling the heating amount of the heating means and the opening operation of the pressure valve by the pressure valve opening mechanism; and a selection means for allowing a user to select an optional rice cooking course from a rice cooking course group classifying the kinds of rice cooking contents. The control means 20 generates a bumping phenomenon and agitates rice grains by controlling the pressure valve opening mechanism 18 corresponding to the kind and/or amount of the material to be cooked in the pot to intermittently open the pressure valve at the prescribed number of times and drop the pressure inside the pot during boiling at once in the period having sufficient moisture in the initial stage of the process of keeping boiling at which the material to be cooked in the pot reaches a boiling temperature by heating.
