<p>A method of screening for a compound having antitumor activity by the steps of providing eukaryotic cells overexpressing at least one myc gene and/or having a deficient Mnt regulator activity; bringing said cells into contact with said compound; culturing said cells in the presence of said compound; and measuring the degree of apoptosis of the cells or the inhibition of cell proliferation. These steps preferably are also performed on cells having wild type expression and/or null-expression of at least one myc gene and/or a functional Mnt regulator activity; and the degree of apoptosis or inhibition of cell proliferation is compared between the cells overexpressing at least one myc gene and/or having a deficient Mnt regulator activity, and the cells having wild type expression and/or null-expression of at least one myc gene and/or a functional Mnt regulator activity.</p> |
