FIBER GRATING TYPE OPTICAL ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber grating type optical element that is small in size, easy to manufacture, and capable of performing superior temperature compensation.

SOLUTION: The optical element is equipped with an optical fiber Bragg grating 1 and a fibrous member 2 arranged around the grating 1. The fibrous member 2 has a negative coefficient of thermal expansion, shrinking by rise in temperature to actuate a compressive force in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber Bragg grating 1.
