PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection-attached structure manufacturing method in which a projection can be formed even on the rear face of a butting part of a base material joined by friction stir welding, without increasing the number of manufacturing processes, and to provide a heat sink manufacturing method, a projection-attached structure and a heat sink manufactured thereby. SOLUTION: Heat sink components 9A, 9B are butted on each other in the side end face, with a heat radiation fin 92 directed toward the rear end face. On the rear face side of the butting part 9D, the planar part 71 of another T-shaped heat sink component 7 is arranged so as to be overlapped in a preparatory process. Then, using the heat sink component 7 as a backing member, the heat sink components 9A, 9B are joined by friction stir welding and the heat sink component 7 is also joined integrally.
