PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FM transmitter the number of components such as an expensive crystal vibrator, the cost of which is decreased, and the mount area of which is reduced. SOLUTION: The FM transmitter is provided with: an oscillation circuit for an FM broadcast wave; a stereo modulation circuit for carrying out stereo modulation for two right and left systems and outputting an oscillation control signal for the oscillation circuit; and a PLL frequency synthesizer comprising a program counter for applying variable frequency division to an output frequency of the oscillation circuit, a reference frequency division circuit for applying frequency division to a reference frequency of 7.6 MHz (or an integer multiple or one over an integer multiple of this frequency), and a phase comparator circuit by comparing an output of the program counter with an output of the reference frequency division circuit to output the oscillation control signal for the oscillation circuit, and the stereo modulation circuit uses a clock signal generated from an output of the reference frequency division circuit to carry out the stereo modulation.
