<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium without the deterioration in the recording characteristic at the initial repetition and without the variation in the characteristic in the overall data area, in the optical recording medium permitting the overwriting at a high linear velocity having the maximum recording linear velocity of 10.5-35 m/s. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium includes at least: a first protective layer; a recording layer which is reversibly phase changed between an amorphous phase and a crystalline phase; a second protective layer; and a reflective layer, on a transparent substrate. The maximum recording linear velocity is 10.5-35 m/s such that the overwriting at the high linear velocity is permitted, and the DOW1 jitter in the data area is ≤10.0%, in which the standard deviation is ≤0.15 when the distribution among the tracks are measured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
