PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device for surely suppressing nonconformities, such as temperature rise at both ends of the width direction of a heating member and a fixing member, by accurately varying the regulation range of magnetic flux acting on the heating member, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing device comprises a magnetic flux regulating member 29 for lowering the magnetic flux acting on the electromagnetic induction heated heating member 23 in a prescribed regulation range of the width direction, a varying means of varying the regulation range by driving a magnetic flux regulating member 29, a first detecting means of detecting the range of the width direction of the recording medium corresponding to the heating member 23, and a second detection means 42 of detecting the position of the magnetic flux regulation member 29 driven by the varying means. The varying means controls the driving of the magnetic flux regulation member 29, on the basis of the results of the first detection means and of the second detection means 42.
